If you’re visiting Toronto, or even if you live there, check out DailyCandy’s weekly travel post – Toronto’s Best Food, Boutiques, Bars, and Sights: Eat, Drink, and Gallery-Hop Through Toronto. Not only does it serve up a variety of trendy neighborhoods and spots to hit, it goes off-the-beaten path to point out hidden gems, like Unit on Queen Street West for drinks, and up-and-coming – read: not-touristy – neighborhoods, like Roncesvalles.
Take it from someone who just spent several months in the city, there are many more places to eat, drink, and be merry, but this is a great start. One addition that I’m compelled to note, especially given the timing, is Scott Conant’s Scarpetta-Toronto, which officially opens today in the Thompson Hotel. If it’s half as good as its New York sister, go to OpenTable immediately and make a reservation.
My advice? Get thyself on a plane, and visit before the frost sets in. You won’t be disappointed!

Lucky Penny - poutine boxing
I was at an event recently and met one of the two founders of the Toronto lifestyle blog Lucky Penny. The next morning I dug into the site. Whether you live in the city, or are planning a trip sometime soon, or just want to be entertained by beautiful photographs and witty, informative commentary, check it out.
Each day, Lucky Penny shares her tip for the best, coolest, most delicious bits of Toronto. I find it refreshing to hear something about this city whose most often stated characteristic is that it’s clean. Instead of the commonplace, here are the fun and happening and aesthetically pleasing … where to find the best poutine or steak frites; the delight of cooking lessons at the Calphalon Culinary Center; the visceral joy of a new pair of Michael Kors high, strappy sandals; the satisfaction of ingesting exquisitely made cupcakes at her birthday party while giving to a worthy cause. All delivered in a saucy, not-too-good-girl manner that only the perpetually hip can pull off. There’s even a Lucky Penny nemesis.
Think Daily Candy meets Gossip Girl … a guilty pleasure if ever there was one.
