It's not too late...to start a business and create a life you love

It’s not too late.

If this is a message you need to hear today, then repeat it to yourself…

It’s not too late.

I am not too old.

There is no cut-off date to start something new.

I posted this on Instagram recently, and it seemed to resonate.

And I thought it dovetailed nicely with last week’s post which was about giving yourself permission, so I wanted to expand on the topic here.

In my work, I’ve witnessed so many unbelievably smart, talented women who don’t see just how good they are and how much they have to offer.

______

Know this. There is power and beauty in the knowledge, expertise, and wisdom that comes from experience, whether that’s 8 years or 18.

What you are capable of today, what you bring each time you dare to do something new, is so much more now than it would have been “back then,” “when you were younger.”

______

There are many reasons you can talk yourself out of going after what you truly want (to withhold permission from yourself).

Here are the common themes I see when it comes to the thoughts and beliefs holding women back from stepping in and stepping up:

🔥 Fear of failure

🔥 Putting too much stock into what other people will say, think, believe (family, friends, old colleagues)

🔥 Then shrinking yourself to fit that fixed idea other's have about who you are

🔥 Thinking “who am I to do x,y,z?” (aka “imposter syndrome”)

🔥 Self-doubt, in all its forms, including…

🔥 I don’t have what it takes

🔥 It’s been done before, by someone else, better than I could ever do it

The list goes on.

______

To counter these thoughts and beliefs…

Perhaps it’s time for you to take stock of the many things you’ve learned, experiences you’ve had, ways in which you’ve succeeded, and yes, those times you’ve failed (because at least you tried, or as Brené Brown has been known to quote, at least you got “in the arena”).

Because whose life do you want to be living? Yours, or someone else’s idea of what it should be?

If you have a vision for your life, or for your business, or both, what would it take for you to have the courage to set that in motion?

I believe this is a worthy, potentially life-changing question.✨

If you are ready to take the next step - whether it’s launching or pivoting you business - I’ve love to connect.

"Is that helpful?" The question every female business owner should ask. >>
