You are your only competition
I don’t know about you, but as a female business owner, this concept has been a tough one for me.
It totally lands one day and I’m all in, only to be totally thrown off another day when I read something online by another business coach for women and think, “they’re doing it better, faster, and more confidently than I am, or ever could.”
Because, as much as I believe (and share in my social posts), that “there is only one you, with your unique set of life experiences, expertise, passions, and interests,” sometimes it’s difficult for me to “take my own medicine.”
_____
Prompted by this distress, I asked myself a question.
“How exactly do I do what I do?”
The “what I do” is I help my clients (you), move:
📍from Point A — where you and your business are today
📍to Point B — where you want to be - the vision you have for your life and your business.
Now, to the “how” — that’s where things got interesting for me (as I hope they do for you).
Every business coach - consultant - strategist has their “secret sauce,” what makes them, them, and creates the unique flavor of how they work with you to get you the results you’re looking for.
_____
My secret sauce, where I landed that day last week for my own “how,” is this:
I help female founders uncover what they don’t know they don’t know.
I’m able to do this because of what makes me, me. My life story, experiences, career — all of it.
I marry years of practical business experience with the ability to listen deeply, hear what’s not being said, and pick out competing priorities.
All of this helps you realize the right course of action based on your talents, skills, business structure, goals, and life. Then, I’m able to suggest the most effective, efficient way to execute that action.
_____
Know this.
There is 100% a similar version of this for you.
Your “what” and your “how” — there is no one else who marries the two in exactly the way you do.
Ergo, you have no competition.
_____
A quote and a (short) poem.
I believe we attract what we need in the moment. What will best serve us can arrive, even when we don’t realize that it’s exactly what we need.
This quote by William Faulkner appeared in my Instagram feed via @theparisreview:
“Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don’t bother to just be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.”
And this from @poetryisnotaluxury:
“For Danielle Collobert
One leaf touches another and not as comparison”
~ From “Debts & Lessons” by Lynn Xu
What I love about these two posts is that they landed in my Instagram feed precisely because I followed what interests me, what I am passionate about.
I would imagine this experience is true for you too.
